When did you get your first fame as you?

This would have been back in October 2003 when I was designated a Microsoft Windows MVP by Microsoft in recognition for all I had done in the previous year to help others in online communities to use Microsoft products, like Windows.

Please Tell us something about your Blog

My blog started out as a website (using Microsoft Front Page) about the time Service Pack 1 for Windows XP was released. This was more of an upgrade in nature and, while it solved a lot of problems, it created some confusion for the average home PC user as well. So I decided to start a site to provide answers to these questions. It was more like a collection of bookmarks than anything else. This was before the days of Google AdSense, etc. so I didn’t profit from any of this, nor was it my intention to. I just wanted to help fellow Windows users like me. Eventually, I moved to the WordPress platform because it was so much easier to use.

The first successful moment of your blog

For the longest time, I was getting no comments on my posts I could not understand why. I thought of implementing forums, but I knew from past experience that moderating them would take a lot of time. Then, after some time, I started getting a few comments on each post. It just took patience, I guess!

Have you ever faced failure in your Early Blogging career?

Like I mentioned above, the lack of comments was discouraging. I am not the most imaginative writer, so it was hard for me to come up with new material on a regular basis, which is discouraging too.

What steps did you take to overcome this failure

I looked to online sources for guest posts to help out. I found several; I still use one (www.myblogguest.com) for getting good quality posts. I also get dozens of unsolicited guest posts every week and most of them I am able to publish in a timely manner.

What do you Suggest to Newbie’s

Just be patient. Focus on good content and learn some good, basic SEO rules. In time, the hits will come and then the ad revenues. In the meantime, keep your day job! Also, try to focus on one or two topics, and not to have your blog filled with several different and unrelated themes. Also, choose a good WordPress theme that is easy on the eyes and easy for others to read. Don’t go in for ‘flashy’ sites unless you are directed at gamers or musicians, etc. Keep it readable.

Lastly How you are helping others in Blogging

While my site does not have a lot of blogging tips, I recommend to others that they follow (on Twitter) some successful bloggers or sites that have good blogging tips and implement them on their own sites.
